The story behind the photographer.
Hi, I’m Kira…
The storyteller behind Kira Lehane
Photography.
Ever since I can remember I knew that photography was going to be in my future, at what capacity I wasn’t sure but what I did know is that I loved documenting things through photographs and also that I loved telling stories.
In 2020 I went to the University of Brighton to get my degree and here my love for documentary style photography grew. My final project was telling the stories of street performers in London and I was extremely proud of it. I got to get to know the people behind the performances and capture the spirit of the art of performing.
After University I knew that I wanted to go travelling and continue learning about different lives of those over the world. So me and my partner saved and at the beginning of 2024 we had our flight to Thailand booked and no return flight. We spent 5 months travelling South East Asia and it was the best thing I have ever done. I learnt so much about different cultures and met so many wonderful people. I documented our travels through photographs and these will forever be some of my most treasured photos.
When I got back to Norfolk after travelling I knew that I still wanted to keep taking portraits and telling people’s stories but I wanted to document moments that others would treasure forever and share the gift of those memories. That’s where Kira Lehane Photography began, documenting families so that their precious moments could be frozen and kept forever.
To stay true to myself, I kept my style very natural and uposed, letting the stories unfold for themselves and documenting things just how they are. Nothing I do is massively staged, only light guidance is given in aspects of my work to make sure everyone feels relaxed and comfortable. I am a very chilled out photographer and honestly just know that if you have a shoot with me, I am really just having the best time and am so happy to be there.
I love love and it is this that has led me to photograph weddings, documenting one of the most special days of your lives is such a privilege. What I aim for in my photographs is for you to look at them and feel the love radiating in the room, to feel the joy and the emotion of the day and of that time in your lives.
So that’s me, a photographer who loves telling stories and wants to share that with others so that their stories can be remembered for years to come, for your children, your children’s children and generations after that.
